FAQ
What makes TranscribePod different from other transcription service providers?
We believe that transcribing is not about simply converting audio to text, we believe that by making audio content available as text you open up your content to many demographics that are largely ignored. Such as those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Giving people more choice in the content they can access is what is important to us. So in a sense we view ourselves more as a communications company rather than simply a transcription service.
How long will I have to wait on my transcripts?
Transcripts will be returned within one week as standard. If you require transcriptions to be completed faster we can accommodate your needs.
What audio formats do you transcribe?
We strive to work with all formats. However digital formats are best since we need to convert the audio to a digital format to transcribe the audio.
Why are digital recordings best?
Digital recordings are better than their analog audio tape counterparts because they provide better audio quality. Digital can also save you both time and money since they are cheaper to store and easier to organise. Also they can be transcribed faster by us for you if we do not have the added step of converting analog to digital.
How can I get the best recording quality possible in my audio files?
The two most important things to do are firstly to eliminate background noise and secondly make sure the speakers are within close range of the recorder. If you are recording on your computer or laptop buying an external microphone can greatly improve the audio quality.
Why charge per minute?
We believe in charging clients a flat fee per minute as this prevents getting unexpected large bills based on working hours, word counts or page numbers. Charing per minute allows you to know how much your transcription will cost when you submit your audio to us.
How can we send you our audio content?
We accept submissions via email, we can supply you with FTP details to upload your audio. Or we can simply download your podcast from iTunes or your website when it goes live if you wish.
Where do we post physical audio media to reach you?
You can send items to us here: Wolfe Tone Street, Mountmellick, Laois, Ireland
Should I send you original media sources?
We recommend you try and send us digital formats and/or copies of original media sources. If you need to send an original media source in the post it may get damaged during shipping. If for some reason you do not wish to, or cannot make copies from the originals, then we will handle your master copies with care.
Do real people transcribe the audio or does a computer do the work?
We do not use computer software to create the transcriptions. Every transcription is completed by two people. A first draft is done by one person this is then proof read by a second person to correct any errors found in that draft.
